Warner Bros. Discovery just announced the release date for the Blue Beetle streaming on Max. The new DCU reboot will bring Jaime Reyes’ Blue Beetle to the screen. Even though Blue Beetle was initially part of the DCEU in a limited way, he will now be fully integrated into the DCU, starting with the 2023 movie.
This makes Blue Beetle the first officially introduced character in the DCU. If you want to stay updated on DCU releases, it’s important to watch his story before the streaming release.
Blue Beetle will be available for Max in just one week, on Friday, November 17. The movie tells the story of Jaime Reyes, a young DC hero, and his connection with an alien device called the Scarab.

The Scarab gives Jaime a special suit with biotech powers, making him the third Blue Beetle in the comics. The movie got positive reviews, and it’s confirmed that Jaime Reyes will be part of the upcoming DCU reboot.

What’s Next for Blue Beetle in the DC Universe?
Details about when and how Reyes will be part of the new DC superhero movies are not clear right now. The first Blue Beetle movie is not the first one in the DCU franchise; that honor goes to the expected Superman: Legacy.
It’s uncertain how the DCU will handle the events in Blue Beetle’s first movie, but there’s a good chance Blue Beetle will show up in the upcoming Booster Gold project.
Blue Beetle and Booster Gold are buddies in the comics, and they bring a lot of humor to the stories. Since Blue Beetle is one of the first DCU characters, it would make sense for him to show up in the upcoming Booster Gold TV series.
James Gunn and Blue Beetle Director Ángel Manuel Soto have talked about this. But don’t expect a second solo movie for Blue Beetle anytime soon. The DCU is focusing on reintroducing popular heroes like Superman and Batman in its first phase, called “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.”
