Come December, Ben Stiller’s Larry Daley — an unlikely hero among unlikely heroes — will face the ultimate challenge as he and his trusty band of nocturnal artifacts head to London in an attempt to salvage the magic of that all-important tablet for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
Billed as the final chapter in 20th Century Fox’s lucrative franchise, the upcoming threequel is said to offer our heroes “one final night to save the day,” as Larry does his utmost to keep the museum folk alive.
Reprising his role as Larry Daley is Ben Stiller, while Shawn Levy’s trilogy-capper will also feature a performance from the late, great Robin Williams. Elsewhere, we understand that Ben Kingsley, Steve Coogan and Rickey Gervais are all set to return, while Secret of the Tomb also heralds newcomers Dan Stevens and Pitch Perfect’s Rebel Wilson.
Here’s hoping that the third and final entry into the series will right the wrongs of its predecessor, after Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian struggled to have the same impact as the 2007 original.
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb will face stiff competition in the form of Annie and Mark Wahlberg’s The Gambler when it releases on December 19th, 2014. Check out the rather epic poster for the threequel below and let us know how you think it will fare at the box office this Christmas.
