Taylor Lautner was cast as Jacob Black, one of the main character's of the story. This turned Lautner into a household name, and women everywhere were fawning over the performer while the saga was hitting the big screen.
Lautner was physically jacked for the role, but it came at a heavy price.
"The body was great for the role—but the amount of the working out and discipline and food that went into it, not fond memories. It's tough because when I was 17, 18, 19 years old, I couldn't do any cardio because I had to just put on as much muscle as possible," he told E! News.
Though it was tough, Lautner pulled it off, and cemented his place in the hearts of fans everywhere.

"Taylor Lautner hinted that there may well be the option to spin out Jacob and Renesmee’s love story into a new Twilight film. Marie Claire met with the star on his recent trip to London and asked if we’d be seeing more of his romance with Edward and Bella’s daughter," Marie Claire reported.
This gave way to a response from Lautner that got fans worked up.
"I could see potential, I mean it [Breaking Dawn Part 2] doesn’t really explore it, although it does have a nice close to it," he said.
Twilight fans would have loved nothing more than to see the story continue, and in 2011, it was announced that Stephanie Meyer was working on a story based on Black and Renesmee.
"Stephenie Meyer, creator of the novel series which the popular films are based on, has hinted that she is writing a new Twilight spin-off series that will focus on Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and his relationship with Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), the daughter of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), whom Jacob 'imprints' upon at the time of birth, marking the newborn as his life mate (or life protector, however you want to look at it)," Business Insider reported.
All these years later, and nothing has materialized.
In 2020, author Stephanie Meyers did release Midnight Sun, which was the story from Edward's perspective, but it was not necessarily a continuation of the story that many fans had grown up with.
It's unlikely that this movie will ever be made, but who knows, maybe Meyers will get that novel off the ground at some point.
